The City and County of San Francisco
is located in the middle of a hilly peninsula that separates San Francisco
Bay from the Pacific Ocean.
It is the fourth most populated city in the state with 776,773 inhabitants,
while its metropolitan area is over 7 million inhabitants, being
not only the largest of the United States but also worldwide, where
thanks
to the activity of Silicon Valley has been a pioneer in the information
revolution.
Located near the San Andreas fault, the city suffers earthquakes
with some regularity, the most important of which was from 1906 and

as Chinatown.
