Rome is the capital of the Italian Republic and the capital of the Lazio Region and the Province of Rome. With 2,724,347 inhabitants spread over an area of 1,285 km ², is the most populous and largest in Italy.
Its historical significance is enormous. It is considered one of the
cradles of Western civilization. Annually receives more than 20 million
visitors, attracted by the ruins of its former glory and its incalculable
works of art, making it one of the most touristic places of the planet.
West of the city lies the Vatican, which is an independent and sovereign
state, the center of the Catholic Church.
