Cancun is a city of international tourism development certified by the World Tourism Organization UNWTO UNWTO. Located on the northeast coast of the state of Quintana Roo in southeastern Mexico in more than 1700 km from Mexico City, the project began operations in 1974 as Planned Comprehensive Center, pioneer Fonatur (Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo), formerly known as INFRATUR.

Cancun becomes this way in a body backed by the Department of Education and Knowledge Management of the WTO.
